Amid the pandemic at its peak, escalating temperature and smart lock-down in different areas of Karachi, Karachiites are facing unannounced 10 to 12 hours load-shedding which is certainly unbearable in this increasing hot temperature of the city.
We are already facing challenging situation in the city due to the pandemic of COVID-19; our educational institutions are closed for months and students are engaged with their online classes how would they carry on with the unstoppable power cuts? People working from home and freelancers are hardly able to do their job efficiently.
When the whole world is working day and night to fight against corona virus, people staying at their homes, here in Karachi, citizens are facing load-shedding day and night, when the so-called city of light, Karachi, faces black out at night how could people be possibly staying at home? Why the business hub city of Pakistan has still not got any privilege and betterment for the problem Karachiites have been facing for more than a decade?
Citizens are worried, being short-tempered and speaking out their anger for K-Electric, what else they can do when no authorities are taking strong action against the monopoly of K-Electric.
Karachiites are speaking out their anger and frustration through memes and tweets on Twitter.

#KElectric failed to provide accurate forecasts of furnace oil to the supplier & that’s why there is a forced power outages. The government should take strict punitive action against the company so as to forestall recurrence of such irregular outages in future. #karachiblackout

Meanwhile KE has given the reasons as justification for the excessive load-shedding these days on social media. K-Electric state that the peak demand of electricity has crossed 3450 MW due to hot weather in Karachi and the power supply has been decreased from 3150 MW to 2800 MW and the gape between this supply and demand is due to shortage of furnace oil in the market nonetheless K-Electric also blames SSGC for reducing amount of RLNG given to K-Electric, they also consider wind speed as a reason for the low supply of power.

Ministry of energy disagreed with the K-Electric's claim about shortage of furnace oil in the market and they further said that the shortage of electricity is due to the failure of K-Electric, they have not upgraded the system according to the escalating demand.
"KE system physical constraints are a major hurdle in taking additional electricity. It clearly indicates that system upgradation has not taken place at the appropriate level and with appropriate investment." Spokesperson from ministry of energy said in a statement.
Who knows whether it is incompetency of K-Electric or government? One thing is clear that Karachiites are surviving!
